How To Spend An Amazing Day In Islamorada

Islamorada is among the archipelago’s most popular keys, and for good reason. Only about an hour south of Miami, Islamorada consists of four islands spanning 18 linear miles. With unparalleled beaches, calm waters, idyllic weather, and a variety of things to do for all ages, Islamorada is the perfect place to visit. In this blog post, we’ll cover where you can go to spend an amazing day in this beautiful place.

Cast A Line

Islamorada, often referred to as the Sportfishing Capital of the World, is one of the best places to fish. Pickles Reef and Conch Reef, both unique combinations of natural and artificial reefs, are two of the best spots to visit. Grouper, hogfish, blackfin tuna, and mangrove snappers frequently circle these reefs. If you’re not up for fishing but still want to experience the thrill, Robbie’s Marina is a great spot to go. Over 100 tarpon come to the marina daily and linger for hours. For just $4.50 per fish bucket, you’ll be able to hand feed these huge fish.

Try One Of The Beloved Restaurants

Whether you’re in the mood to go to a steakhouse, cafe, grill, or diner, Islamorada gives you the opportunity to explore many options. M.E.A.T Eatery and Taproom is one of the best and was featured on the show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. The restaurant offers a fun atmosphere, exquisite dishes with creative slides, and friendly staff. Mangrove Mike’s Cafe is another great pick and has been serving delicious diner-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes since 1998. Plus, they’re pet-friendly! Square Grouper is one of the top restaurants to satisfy your appetite, offering fresh seafood dishes, creative cocktails, and more.

Enjoy The Family-Friendly Activities

Islamorada is stocked full of family-friendly activities, which is one of the many reasons that 500,000 people visit the islands annually. Theater Of The Sea has offered fun interactions with dolphins, sea lions, and more since 1946. The Dolphin Research Center is another great place to take children, where they can play, swim, and even paint with dolphins. Aquaholics Adventures also offers paddleboard and kayak tours, perfect for the children who might want a hands-off approach when seeing animals.

Try Local Drinks

Not only is drinking local better for the environment, but most local companies give back to the community, as well. At Florida Keys Brewing Company, you can take a tour of the facility, visit the taproom for a tasting flight, pint or growler, and spend time in the beer garden playing cornhole or giant Jenga. Islamorada Brewery & Distillery offers craft beer and cocktails made from spirits distilled on site. Their menu also features cocktails on tap, craft vodka sodas, and house frozen drinks. The Islamorada Wine Company, located just steps from our property, offers a large wine selection, charcuterie, craft beer, and private wine tastings.

Bask In The Sun

Islamorada beaches will provide you with hours of fun. Anne Beach is named after a local environmentalist and offers clear and shallow waters – making it a prime spot for swimming with children. Founders Park, a 40 acre multi recreational facility, offers a beautiful palm tree lined beach with tiki huts, picnic tables, cooking grills, and so much more. Holiday Isle Beach has its own unique charm. This beach is traditionally private, owned by the Holiday Isle Resort complex. Luckily there are public areas, because it’s one of the nicest spots.

Full of natural beauty, Islamorada offers an array of restaurants, exceptional entertainment, endless activities, and more.
